Santorini Ferries

Ferry hopping is a popular activity and way of travelling between the Greek islands and most islands have a great number of direct connections with ports on a variety of the islands and beyond. Santorini is no exception. 

While there are four ports on Santorini, two are used only by the local fishermen. The other two ports are Athinios and Fira, with the port in Fira exclusively serving cruise ships which means that the ferry port is Athinios. During high season it is wise to have your ticket booked in advance and be at location in good time as the port might not be big, but it is often crowded. 

The Athinios port on Santorini has direct ferry connections with 41 ports including two ports in Athens, Piraeus and Rafina. The route between Rafina and Santorini mostly exists during the summer season and the journey time is around 5.5 hours. The route between Piraeus and Santorini is all year round and it comes with the options of a high speed vessel or a conventional ferry. The journey takes around 4 hours with the high speed vessel and 8 hours with the regular ferry.
